Course Outline
Manners for Girls Outline
(Week One) The first week focuses on teaching the young ladies visual poise. We'll help them learn the importance of making a good first impression and teach them the art of good posture, sitting, standing and walking. (Week Two) The young ladies will learn the basics of social etiquette, how to handle introductions to new people, the proper way to shake hands, tips on casual conversation, and instructions in telephone manners. (Week Three) We teach personal grooming, skin care, hair care, personal style and tips on clothing. The young ladies enjoy a mini-manicure. Part of their homework is to organize their closet and drawers. (Week Four) The fourth week concentrates on table manners, etiquette when dining out and party manners. The girls begin practice for their graduation fashion show. (Week Five) The young ladies get to put some of their new skills to use at an in-class tea party where they will learn to serve each other punch, and enjoy cookies and petit fours. They will also learn how to write thank-you notes, as well as additional social etiquette tips. (Week Six) This last class, the young ladies get to demonstrate all they have learned in the Graduation Fashion Show.
Manners for Boys Outline 1
Week One) The first week will focus on social skills which include introductions, handshaking, conversation and telephone manners. Tie Tying is introduced. (Week Two) Good posture equals self-assurance. The young men will learn the importance of making a good first impression and this begins with how they sit, stand and walk. And yes, tie-tying practice is presented. (Week Three) Personal Grooming is as important for the young man as it is for the young ladies. We will talk about skin and hair care and personal styles in clothing. If time permits, we visit the boy's department to discuss clothing coordination. (Week Four) With a pretend invitation and how to respond to it - the boys will go through a dinner invitation from beginning to the end. Each young man will also assist in setting a table and then take a turn holding their knife and fork the proper way. It is then time to send that most important Thank You Note. (Week Five) The young men will get to put some of their new skills to use at an in-class reception where they will enjoy cookies, nuts, petit fours, and serve each other punch. (Week Six) The Graduation Fashion Show. The boys choose outfits to wear or they can wear something from home. What a great way to end - showing all that new poise and confidence they have learned over the past weeks.

Manners for Boys Outline 2
(Week One) The first week the young gentlemen will learn the basics of social etiquette, such as how to handle introductions to new people, introducing yourself and the proper way to handshake. Working a room is covered, as well as tips on conversation and telephone manners. Also introduced is our first instructions on how to tie a tie. (Week Two) First Impressions start with good posture and personal grooming. Sitting, standing and walking can be important traits showing others how you feel about yourself. The young men are offered tips on clothing coordination, as well as closet organization. The young men will also learn how to treat ladies, and others, with respect and courtesy. (Week Three) Table manners are an important element in making a positive impression. Once the basics are mastered your young man will feel comfortable in any dining and social situation. Also covered will be the art of writing thank you notes. (Week Four) One of the highlights is the opportunity for the young gentlemen to demonstrate their new etiquette skills at a gourmet dinner in The Oakroom of The Seelbach Hilton Hotel. (Week Five) A special Fashion Show Graduation. Students successfully completing the course take part in a graduation fashion show and are awarded a Certificate of Recognition. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
